Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Sega CD/CD Player, 32 X, Flashcart, 2 Fans, LEDs, LCD Screen, Speaker all inside case all running off 1 diode Power Supply.
As I stated, I was inspired by the Sega Fusion, the many homemade Sega Neptune consoles and the later factory produced ones (otakus-store).
I am very interested in the Jupiter, Mars and Neptune info. And impressed with homemade projects.
Funny some of these screenshots I took from videos, but my links/pictures ended up all over other forums.
There seems to be 2 Neptune prototypes, or at least 1 cracked one and another or at least fan copies (like prototypes, of course there are many genesis 2 "neptunes").
Now, the pictures below are of my project. Yes, pictures snapped off my potato camera.
First taking Genesis apart. (VA6 was used at first then I switched to VA2)
You might have seen this picture before, this is me testing stuff before I take out of cases. (Sent 32 x to Madmax, md to friend).
Testing 32 X and Genesis before I take 32 X out of case to make it just a ^ shape instead of t or mushroom shape on top of Genesis.
Taking Sega CD out of case (it's just a disc drive and 2 boards), right board lowered to be level with top of disc drive so Genesis sits straight now. Adding LEDs and fans under Genesis part. See if power supply will fit.
Okay everything fits. (Just put bubblewrap there so glued fans and power supply dry). Still under 3.3 inches.
Okay, let's measure this fuck, ah less height and width than SMS so far.
Again. Much lower than it would be IF it was all still in cases with shields and stuff.
Triple check. Okay.
Getting everything level, everything works.
Let's take the 32 x apart, solder it to Genesis and start building the power supply with diodes, fuses and everything it needs. Remember the 32 x is the "opposite polarity" of Genesis and Sega CD. So is my LCD screen. But understanding the correct volts, amps and polarity is crucial.
Let's start building the case.
I have a LOT of sanding and reworking to do.
Testing if unit can be slid in/out of case just in case repair work needs to be done. Check.
Okay, here is everything almost done.
Total size comparison. The reason my case has a shape like sms is because I like the sms shape, the md has sms on board, and it was practical as I needed "humped" space for cart and lcd screen wires and other wires on top of folded soldering 32 x board. Everything you see from the diode power supply to screen to cart will be inside case. My case is 1.2 inches taller than md + cd in their cases (mine will have everything inside case though) but it's 2.8 inches smaller than md + cd + 32 x + cart in their cases. Size comparison below.
Done. Yes the case isn't the best thing in world, but whoever wants to make me a better one, pm me. Neptune CD aka S (Sega) - Box aka S (Shit) - Box aka Sega Triton aka Spectrum Orbi aka Mini Project Unity aka Whatever. I will add spectrum and orbi stickers on it since it looks as bad or reminds others of the "batman project unity" box supposedly.
Edit. Project Done.
